What kind of foundation do you have for this mattress?

Hey there Filbert,

The BackScience Mattress is an excellent choice. Just work with @BackScience and Dr Rick to be certain you select the the best one with the best options. Also, you need to follow what @megatonoleo suggested and take a good look at your foundation to ensure it is appropriate and robust enough for any mattress you decide to place on it.

I forgot how old the Sherwood is. I thought it was a newer mattress? Have you been rotating it?

Check everything first, before you jump into something new. A mismatched foundation can take down any mattress, even a great quality one.

My Sherwood mattress is almost 4 weeks old

What is your foundation like? If the mattress is only 4 weeks, it just may be the fibers relaxing and you should rotate the mattress. If the mattress is not comfortable overall, than it simply may have been a mismatch for you. 4- 8 weeks should be enough time to make that determination.

What is their trial period policy.

If it sunk in that fast even as a cheap bed there must be an issue with the foundation

Well, that actually looks good to me.

It is hard to see, but is the mattress on the metal frame only? The slats are too thin and too widely spaced. You need video from under the mattress to see if it is pushing between the slats.

Remove the mattress, and take pictures of the bed frame with slats. And measure the space between slats, and width of any slat.

I see seven wooden slats. If each slat is 2" wide, and if your bed frame is a Queen, the space between slats is about 8 inches.

The thickness of the wood, along with the solid firmness of the metal frame creates support both directions, which overall is about structurally sound as it gets, so you did great there. However, because the wood cross beams are not at the same level as the metal, the gap between each board may be an issue. That said, you can easily test out how it does by placing a couple of sheets of plywood over the slats. The other option is to place an order for a bunky board to go over those and if you do decide to get the Back Science mattress, you can also place an order to get a 2 inch low profile box foundation that will definitively prevent any mattress drop.

Feel free to visit our www.BackScience.com site and email or call us with any other questions.

Thanks!
