I currently have a Latex mattress I bought in 2024 from 45th Street Bedding in Seattle, the Woodland Park in the medium plush. It is 8" of what they call “Botanicore” Latex, which seems to be Dunlop. The mattress is too firm for me, as I sleep primarily on my stomach but also like to lie on my back to read.
I used to have a similar model from the same company back in 2013, which I know had talalay as the comfort layer. I didn’t realize they had changed so much with this “botanicore” and it is just too firm with no give at all for me.
I tried 1" toppers of dunlop, nothing. I gave in and bought a 3" memory foam, which is soft enough for me when stomach sleeping, but gives me agonizing pain if I try to lay on my back. And I have a pillow factory for various positions and fills, etc. On my stomach, I instinctively spread legs and arms and stuff to probably spread out weight and pressure points. On my back, I feel like my tailbone is lower and there is this horrendous pain between my shoulder blades - even without a pillow.
I want to put a 2" Talalay topper over the latex mattress (and remove the memory foam), and I’m unsure if I need the soft or the super soft. When I look at the adjustable mattress, the details say the topper is “soft 19”, but in the Talalay mattress topper dropdown 19 = super soft (15-19) and soft is 20-24.
I’m thinking 2" is right, but I’m worried that might not be enough? I do like the springy feel of Talalay. I saw the “blended” but not sure that exactly that means - but it does seem to have that magical #19 as the “soft”
I live in Mexico so once it’s delivered to my mail service in Yuma, another service brings across - but I can’t get anything back for returns. Makes trying things difficult.
I am a 60 year old female, 5’ 4", 170 - 190 lbs (I keep losing that same 20 lbs, haha)
My stomach position is with me head turned and my right leg out, not face first in the mattress.
I have feather pillows of different fill and one pure down.
Goal is to have the give the memory foam provides for my various parts and not have aches under the breast and side. For the back, I’d kill to lie there and not have to bolt upright in agony.
Any suggestions appreciated. Pure Talalay vs Blended? 2 versus 3?
Thanks in advance,
