Need new mattress with different needs (back pain side sleeper and a stomach sleeper)

Hi, I’m in the search for a new mattress as the current one is giving me lower back pain. It’s pretty old and has developed sagging spots. After trying out mattresses (husband preferred memory foam over traditional inner springs, hated the jiggling of the Purple mattress which I liked), we ended up both liking the Tempurpedic LuxeAdapt soft. But I wasn’t sold on all memory foam as I tend to sleep on the edge and need great edge support or the price. So we compromised on a hybrid (and price) and got the Tempuepedic Supreme Medium Hybrid from Costco.

Husband loves it but I’m finding it too hard. We’ve had it for a month now. I’m waking up to neck and shoulder pains in addition to my pack pain. So I spent a night in our guest bed (same mattress as our original) and my back felt great but the rest of me was so achy from how hard it is. Not sure if it’s relevant but I’m 5’2 and lost 50 pounds and now only weigh 125. My husband is 6’ and weighs 135.

I found this forum in my middle of the night searches and am considering a DLX premier hybrid (worried it’ll be too hard), Back science 2 (worried husband won’t like the gel feeling if it’s similar to the Purple), or the Tempflow (worried about the edge support and switching completely to foam). I would love some guidance. Thank you.

Are both of you side or back sleepers?

Im 230 pounds and 5 11. I bought Back Science 2. The lower back support is phenomenal. It is soft also on top layer and that top layer can be swapped out/customized. Whats not to love?

It does feel a bit like Purple, but it is better. I bought a Purple 4 and started having back pain immediately. Zero support for back. BS2 back support is key.

I feel BS2 is luxury firm for back and side sleepers. BS3 for side sleepers. I heard TempFlow is putting the lumbar back support in their memory foam mattresses. That might produce the greatest mattress of all time!!! BackScience and Tempflow are basically the same company. I guess you could try it out at the Agoura Hills, CA showroom.

I think husband will love the feeling of BS2! Does not feel like gel. Feels like a mix of memory foam and latex. I know it is called “Hypergel”.

I’m mostly a side sleeper while my husband tends to sleep in his stomach or back.

Unfortunately I live in the East Coast so we can’t try it out.

Dont let living on the east cost stop you. I live in NJ and it did not stop me from ordering on line based on specs and collaboration.

@BackScience offers a 365 night Trial, 30 year warranty and some modifications can be done in the home if ever needed. Just an FYI.
