Hi There!
I recently bought the pieces for a DIY mattress in the following configuration…
TOP: 3" 19 ILD Talalay Blended Latex
MIDDLE: 2" 28 ILD Talalay Blended Latex
BASE: 6" QE Elite Bolsa
I really, really want to love this because it’s super plush, but I keep waking up with significant lower back discomfort that gets worse every subsequent night. I spent one night on my partner’s bed, and the pain went away. When I returned to my new mattress and slept two nights, the pain has returned worse than ever, and I have not gotten very a restful sleep for two nights in a row.
I’ve taken some pictures, which I’ve included below. Comparing these pictures with some diagrams I’ve seen online, my spine appears to be “hammocking,” so I’m afraid that the mattress is too soft. Either that, or the thickness of the middle and top layers are keeping me from feeling the support of the base coils.
I LOVE the softness of the 3" 19 ILD topper, and I would like to preserve that, but not at the expense of my back.
I have not tried rearranging any of the layers; however, the only thing I can imagine helping is removing the middle 2" 28 ILD layer. But then I have a layer of latex laying around, and that seems like a huge waste, and I’d like to avoid that.
So… I need help. What would you recommend I do to rectify this situation?
