I went to a mattress firm close by and the sales rep told me the foam density has nothing to do with the durability of the mattress, only the firmness. I’m confused because online I read that the higher foam density, the more durable the foam will be. When looking at the classic vs the classic plus mattresses on the Shovlin website, the classic plus has a higher foam density. I am just trying to figure out if this just means it is firmer or if it will last longer.
Does anyone have any experience buying from Shovlin Mattress Factory or Ethical Mattress Co in New Jersey? How many years do their innerspring mattresses typically hold up before they start getting less comfortable? I saw they were trusted mebers and wanted to try them over something like a dreamcloud that Matress Firm was selling.

Density refers to weight, not firmness and it is true that the higher the density the longer it will last. Important thing to remember however is that is it more important for you to have the comfort your body needs or for it to last longer. Typically the higher the density the firmer the foam. The ILD number is what determines the firmness. The higher the ILD the firmer the foam.
Standard polyfoam tends to feel a bit stronger and firmer if you get the same type of firmness foam, but with a higher density. Memory foam however usually feels softer with higher density. Though it will have longer durability.
