Ok, I’m going to start off by saying that for all of my kids mattress needs I have been loyal to naturpedic. I found them when searching certifications for crib mattresses and my family has loved our 4 mattresses, toppers and pillows. Certifications like GOTS/GOLS/EWG (or at least extensive, transparent and verifiable documentation) are important to me because of all the greenwashing out there today. I do understand that those cost money for the companies to obtain and the cost of premium materials have to be passed on to the consumer. But I now need to purchase 4 new bunk bed mattresses, 1-2 king mattresses, toppers, and pillows, and I cannot afford the level of splurging on this bulk purchase that I have when I purchased our other mattresses 1 at a time. So, I’ve started to look for discounts/other equally material conscious high quality alternatives. Help me, please.
The immediate need is for 4 bunk bed mattresses. We need soft and plush enough that an adult could sleep on it comfortably if needed (and durable enough be fully supported over time if it happened more frequently since these will be in a vacation home that could host guests), but supportive enough for developing toddler- aged children’s spines. A waterproof protector is also a necessity, but can be added on.
I was leaning toward naturepedic 2 in 1 because I honestly didn’t even know there were comparable options out there that were certified (aware of hapsy although they no longer seem to be much more affordable), but then I found mygreenmattress and am looking at their pure eco kids mattress. With naturepedics current sale it’s actually slightly more than the one I was looking at originally. Are there other more affordable alternatives without sacrificing much? Between the ones I’ve mentioned l? Between those two which would you go with and why?
I’ll add that the naturepedic ones my sons have at home are the verse and we are very happy with them. I would like something comparable, but better suited for the needs stated above.

First, the bunk beds. I checked the My Green Mattress site briefly. It looks like their materials are solidly organic with no greenwashing - all good!
I noticed three things that may tip the scales toward Naturepedic:
The NP 2-1 is slightly cheaper than MGM eco-kids, since the eco-kids mattress is not included in the MGM sale. $ 599 for MGM compared to $ 545 for Naturepedic 2-1 might not seem like much of a difference, but when you multiply it by 4 mattresses, it adds up to about $175.
2)Slight difference in warranty - 20 years for MGM and 25 years for Naturepedic
Naturepedic 2-1 has a waterproof side and a plusher side - so you can flip it to the side you wish. You mentioned a waterproof protector, so thought I would mention it as a feature not included in the Verse you currently have or the Eco-Kids mattress you’re considering.
With your other purchases (King mattress, topper, pillows) Naturepedic has expanded their line so that now all of these items plus bedding can be bought from them or one of their dealers. My advice would be to call them directly and see if they would offer a slight discount or provide free pillows or a sheet set, etc. The 22% discount they currently offer is the best I have ever seen from them, so they may not have room to adjust any further. However, it can’t hurt to ask, especially since you have such a large order.
