I’m doing surgery on a Bear Elite Hybrid mattress and need some guidance.
I got the BEH because of the great innerspring support that I need for my hips. I’m a lightweight sleeper and find that most mattresses cause my hips to sink because I don’t compress the top layers enough to reach the support layer. Bear Elite has a thicker center coil which has seemed to help this problem.
The issue is that the mattress I have has a luxury firm transition layer which is too firm for my lower body and causes pressure point pain in my hips. The current foam is 2 inches thick with 1 inch memory foam on top. I replaced the foam with 35 ILD 2” topper and having the same problem. The higher quality/density foam feels better to me but the firmness seems to be about the same.
I ordered a 26 ILD qualux polyfoam topper to use as the transition layer but am worrying it will either be too firm or too soft over the coils. Need help figuring out which ILD will work best for a medium-soft mattress feel over 8 inches support coils.
