Prana Sleep Super Vinyasa Luxury Firm - Alternatives?

Hi,

i recently tested a Prana Sleep Super Vinyasa Luxury Firm mattress (King Size) and it is exactly what I need in terms of firmness and support.

However, the price tag is a bit heavy at 5K. Are there any similar alternatives out there?

Thanks,
Tom

Hi jjmethods,

There would likely be many other latex mattresses available to you that may be similar but the only way to know whether they felt similar to you in terms of PPP (Posture and alignment, Pressure relief, and Personal preferences) would be based on your own personal testing and/or experience. You can read more about the Prana mattresses in post #3 here and this thread and I would be very cautious with these because they use thicker layers of polyfoam on top of the latex so you would be feeling polyfoam as much or more than the latex.

I would also make sure you’ve read the tutorial post here and also make sure that you don’t buy a mattress unless you know the specifics of all the layers inside it so you can identify any possible weak links in the mattress and make more meaningful comparisons with other mattresses.

If you let me know your city or zip code I’d be happy to let you know of any of the better options or possibilities I’m aware of in your area.

Thanks a lot Phoenix. I would live to try out more latex mattresses but I could not find many stores that offer them in their showrooms. I am located in Boston, MA. Do you know any alternatives in this area?

Best,
Tom

Hi jjmethods,

There are quite a few good choices in the general Boston area (including for latex). The better options and possibilities I’m aware of are listed in post #2 here.

Hi Tom,

I’ve been down the same road. I also liked the Pranasleep (at Jordans), but wasn’t sure if the outer (non latex) foam would hold up. And the price :frowning: I found some good options at Gardner Mattress (Woburn and other locations) - they have several latex/foam/spring mattress combos to try out. I ended up buying a Pure Latex Bliss (PLB) Pamper with a 2" PLB active fusion fast response topper from Siesta sleep shop in Acton MA. (great price, and I liked it better than the prana sleep, YMMV).
