Hi Sleep EZ,
We are considering placing an order for a split Sleep EZ mattress in the next day or two. I called the factory yesterday with some questions, but we aren’t feeling confidant yet with the information we have enough to pull the trigger on the purchase. I hope someone from Sleep EZ can give us some detailed input, and welcome any other folks who can offer input regarding their experience as well.
- About the layers:
I have fibromyalgia and scoliosis, I’m a side sleeper, 5’3” 145 lbs. I don’t like soft mattresses.
My husband has back “issues”: a tight muscle that spasms and can lock up if he does physical activity in bent positions (ie: yard work). He is mainly side and stomach sleeper. 5’7” 145 lbs.
We have had our current mattress for about 15 years, maybe more. It was manufactured by a company called Jaffco, and looking online I see that they were one of the first in the “bed in a box” industry. I don’t know what kind of latex, but we both like it. There is no “sinking in” feeling with this mattress, it is more a feeling of sleeping “on top” of the mattress.
My husband thinks he would prefer something with more give in it, so the top talalay soft layer may work for him. For myself, I wonder if a medium talalay or perhaps a soft dunlop might be better? I prefer a surface similar to what we are sleeping on now, a feeling of sleeping “on” and not sinking into it.
- Foundation: Currently, we have a foundation that is resting on a metal frame. The foundation fabric shows signs of some mildew spots/aging/yellowing and is very dusty. We are considering purchasing your foundation along with the mattress. I see that it is not returnable, so a few questions:
- it does not have a cloth cover over the slats and our current one does. I wonder what the reason is to have that vs. not having it.
- Also, any customer issues with noise, squeaky-ness or other issues? My understanding is that not all foundations are created equal.
- The metal frame we are using seems to have worked fine so far with the current mattress. It is supported in 6 places: 3 legs at the foot and 3 legs at the head of the frame. It does NOT have a supportive bar across the middle such as the one Sleep EZ sells. We are wondering if we need to replace the metal frame?
P.S. My husband sleeps warm. I understand that latex sleeps cooler than other options, but any recommendations regarding sheets/bedding that might help with that would be greatly appreciated.
