Seeking feedback on mattress or alternatives

I’m in my 20s, about 6 feet tall and just under 200 lbs. I’m currently looking for a medium-firm hybrid mattress. I’ve been sleeping on a very old mattress and my girlfriend’s Zinus, but I’m starting to experience some back discomfort likely from poor posture and my desk job.

I came across the 14" Crown Series by Dream Time Bedding (Toronto area) and found it quite interesting, though there isn’t much information available online. Here is what I was able to gather:

  • Fabric pillow-top with polyester fiber and foam
  • Comfort layers: 2” Talalay latex + 2” plush foam
  • 5-zone 1100+ pocket coil system with foam-encased edge support

It’s priced around $$650 CAD including tax/shipping, which seems like a good deal considering a 2” Talalay latex topper alone costs around $300.

I did find an older (2017) forum post mentioning that Dream Time Bedding used Carpenter foam, similar to what Casper uses, but I’m unsure if that’s still the case today.

I’m also considering buying a cheaper pocket coil mattress and adding a 2” latex topper instead. I would appreciate any suggestions or feedback either on this particular model or other solid hybrid options in this price range. I’m mainly a side sleeper** looking for good support and durability. I just bought a shredded memory foam pillow and want to try alternatives and will also purchase a cotton duvet/sheets/silk pillow case and suffer from allergies. Thanks for your help!

Good morning Leafsstar24,

I tried to find the mattress you are referring to and I can only find this one

Which is $1259 plus taxes and It has the same specs as you mentioned. If this is the mattress you are looking at, I would try and find out the density of the HD foam and make sure it’s over 1.8 lbs/ft3. Also ask them for the gauge of the coils, which should fall between 8 to 11 for optimal support and wear.

Once you get this information, please report back to us so that we can evaluate it further.

Thank you!
