I’m a side sleeper, 165 lbs, 5’11”. Suffer from pressure points on hips. I’ve narrowed it down to Softer winkbed and Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid Soft. Which would be my best choice.
Of those two, the BB Signature Hybrid in a medium with the pillow top option would be best.
So the soft would be a bit too soft?
Everyone has their own preferences, but choosing the pillow top version of the BB Signature Hybrid in Medium offers a balanced feel. It’s soft on the surface for a comfortable landing without making the entire mattress too soft or lacking support. It’s much easier to add softness to a firmer mattress than to make a soft mattress feel more firm.
I ended up buying the Signature Hybrid with pillow top in medium. Too hard for me. Some hip and waist pain. I have a 3” latex topper from Brooklyn Bedding and an older 1 1/2” memory foam topper. The latex is uncomfortable (waist pain). Doubled over the memory foam is comfortable. What would be a good topper for me?
How long have you had it? Those pillow tops from Brooklyn Bedding are very soft. A latex noodle or similar topper of a soft latex would be recommended, but it seems you have gone the latex route, but a noodle or shredded topper acts a bit different than a solid topper.
I am a bit surprised at your height and weight, the mattress is giving you this type of pain, with no other issues to attribute it to. Are you sinking or bottoming out the pillowtop? I assume you are sleeping on your side. What other information can you provide that makes you believe the mattress is the issue. What about the foundation? If you are not using a foundation where if slatted, the slats are less than 3” spaced, 2-3” in width, and more than 1/2” thick, there could be some issues there.
Hopefully, you have some additional information that can help figure out the main cause of discomfort here.
I’m 72 years old. Side sleeper. Hip bursitis. A little scoliosis. After just a hour or so on the Brooklyn mattress, I can start to feel my hip hurt. The best mattress I ever slept on was the La Quinta hotel mattresses. When traveling I typically stuck a pillow under my hip.and waist area.
How long did you try the BB mattress.
Just a couple of hours. I will try it again tonight and stick with it til morning.
It can take as long as 30 days to break the mattress in, and have your body adjust to the new mattress. You are very early in the process.
