I am new to the custom mattress world and diy world, but am considering the all natural latex in a split cal king setup.
I love the idea of changing layers as needed without the burden of an all new mattress. I also like a taller bed.
I would love a recommendation for a build -
Background
I am smaller 5’7 and weight range 105-110, mid 30s. I am a wild sleeper with lots of dreams and nightmares. I also suffer from body pains, and migraines, numbness mostly right side of body. I toss and turn, roll into a burrito blanket, thrash around, spread out like a starfish, etc. I do find when i get to sleep on a latex or even hybrid, i sleep more sound. When i do settle into falling asleep, it is usually on my stomach, then end up on left or right side. I am perpetually cold , but now have night sweats in rem and even general sleep. I am worried on the all latex build that although it may help during the night sweat episodes, i may feel too cold overall.
My husband is a big guy, 6’4" weight is always 230-235 lb, mid 40s. He has back issues with our current mattress always wakes up sore. He says he likes a firm mattress, but not too firm. He mostly sleeps on his back and right side. He is also a furnace (cancer took lots of lymphs out as well as his sweat glands). He would enjoy a cooler mattress.
Does sleepez have a return period once we set it up and need to change layers right off the bat?
Can the 13 inch mattress work well with adjustable bases? And are there any suggestions for the bases. He likes lots of features, where as i am simpler, but it would be best to match the bases. He likes the idea of massage features and bells and whistles.
Thank you for your time!

Hi Jenna,
Thank you for reaching out! Based on the information you’ve shared, I believe the 10" Organic Mattress with three 3" layers will provide ample comfort for both you and your husband.
Our Organic 10" model features a 3" 100% Natural Talalay layer on top, with two 3" GOLS-certified Dunlop layers beneath it. I recommend ordering split layers so you can customize each side to suit your individual comfort needs and have the option to rearrange or exchange layers if needed.
For your side, I suggest a soft/medium/firm (S/M/F) configuration. The 3" soft Talalay layer on top will provide excellent contouring and pressure relief, while the medium and firm Dunlop layers below will offer gradual, supportive firmness.
For your husband, at 235 lbs, I recommend a medium/medium/firm (M/M/F) configuration. The 3" medium Talalay layer on top will provide him with similar contouring and pressure relief as the soft layer does for you, while the medium and firm Dunlop layers will ensure adequate support.
If you decide to opt for the 13" model with four layers, I would suggest adding an extra-firm Dunlop layer at the bottom for additional support. While both the 10" and 13" mattresses are compatible with adjustable bases, the 10" model will contour better due to its thinner profile. Thicker mattresses tend to bunch up more on adjustable bases as they bend.
Additionally, our Organic Latex Mattress models come with a 90-day comfort exchange policy, allowing you to exchange layers as needed. The first exchange is a flat $30 fee, and subsequent exchanges are charged at the actual cost of shipping.
If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. You’re also welcome to call us at 480-966-8731.
Best regards,
Jeremy
