Slide sleeper/back combo, 120lb female, extreme hip pain on all new mattresses - seeking recs!

Hi - I’m a 120lb female, primarily a side sleeper, but some back sleeping. I am on my 6th new mattress now over the past 15 months and am still suffering extreme amounts of hip pain. I’ve tried Saatva Classic Medium and Plush Soft (with Saatva foam topper); BeautyRest Heavenly Bed Equivalent; iComfort Pro Level 2 Plush Pillow Top - all of these gave me hip pain and I went back to my old mattress using Saatva Foam Topper for 6 months. In June, I tried Saatva RX, and added Saatva foam topper, but still had extreme hip pain; and now I am on Stearns & Foster Lux Estate Plush Pillow top, which gave me pain, added the Saatva foam topper and I still wake in pain.

The research I’ve done through AI suggests that I need a mattress with a lower density foam for my weight - no more than 4 PCF for the density of the foam - and very responsive coils. I can’t decipher whether the pain is coming from the foam not giving way, or the intensity of the coils, or both! AI was leaning toward the Helix Sunset or Sunset Luxe but cautioned about the zoned coils on the Luxe possibly being too rigid.

Any recommendations on what would be the best mattress to try next, which hopefully will be the final!

Hi kkccc,
I see you did not get any recommendations. I can see your issue. You are way lighter than what the average mattress is designed for. That rules out pretty much all conventional coil type mattresses.

I don’t know what you look like but my guess is that at 120 lbs your trouble is not enough give in the mattress. We designed our mattress with its movable slats system to adjust to any person regardless of weight, size or body shape. Then we use a 4in Talalay latex comfort layer on top of the movable slats. Talalay is generally very good for people who struggle with pressure points if that is your issue.
