So this weekend I converted my 13" mattress into a 7" mattress.
I’m not liking how low it is. (but I like the firmness so far)
I currently have a steel frame with wheels (nearly useless on my carpet) and on top of that an 8" wood box “spring”
I’m looking to add another foundation - either below or on top of my wood foundation.
Amazon and Wayfair have a ton of options…
But I’d like the additional foundation to have a good strength to weight ratio. When I move my bed, I kind of have to lift one corner and pull it.
The strength is relevant because by the time I have 6" of latex on top of it plus another foundation plus me… Well, I’m not heavy - but still it adds up. The most the steel frames are rated at is 500 lbs, which should be enough - but I wouldn’t mind more margin.
Anyone have any ideas?
If it were me I would just add another wood foundation. It will be stronger than the metal ones you mentioned and also have more friction to keep the other wood foundation from sliding around.
Thank you for your insight. I tend to agree with you.
I’ll likely zip-tie the foundations together to make sure they go nowhere…
That’s a good idea, or you could get some sticky back velcro to put around the edges.
