Hello,
I have a split level latex bed with the following layers: soft talalay, firm dunlop, medium talalay. I am a 5’2", 135 lb. side sleeper. I am feeling tension in my shoulders and upper back and wake up with knots throughout my upper back. I have some hip sorness on my left side which is the side I primarily sleep on. When I lay on my back which isn’t often but does happen when my left hip becomes too sore, I feel tightness in my lower back. I have experimented with a dunlop medium layer on the bottom but found that feeling too firm. I also tried the soft talalay, medium talalay and firm dunlop setup but found that was not enough support for my lower back.
From what I have read on this website, I think FloBeds may allow me the ability to customize even more and hopefully help me find the right fit. I would appreciate any help you can provide.
thank you
Ruth F.

Hello @rfnewyou
I had similar issues with shoulder and hip pressure, and what helped me was swapping to a softer top layer and keeping the firmer Dunlop on the bottom for support. FloBeds’ customization sounds like a great option. You’ll be able to fine-tune each zone for better alignment.
Hi Ruth,
I somehow missed this and am now responding 6 months late! Just in case you haven’t already purchased, our vZone is designed for sleepers just like you! More times than not, when a side sleeper gets the right level of pressure point relief (softness) for the shoulder and hip, the mattress is too soft for the lower back, so having it slightly softer in the shoulder/hips, and firmer in the lower back, is key! With that said, everyone is built differently so the ability to micro tune these regions or these “zones” is ideal. At your weight i would recommend the “soft” or “medium” setup in our vZone. I will attach a picture here with the left side set up in soft, and the right side setup in medium.
If you’d like to discuss this mattress further please reach out to us, if you call during business hours you’ll always get a live person. Our mattress tends to raise many questions, and all of our sleep specialists here are ready to answer them.
Thank you,
