Anyone have experience with these? Im thinking about getting one for a twinxl DIY.
Would order from this site: https://www.pocketcoilstore.com/quad-standard
I think this is a front end for Texas Pocket Springs. SOmeone named Matan says the 15.5 gauge is the most popular. Ive read a few other threads from ppl talking to the same person. So I assume the site is legit. I currently sleep on coils that are like offset coils I think is the proper term. Old posturpedic mattress torn apart and tried to get more life out them. Im currently sleeping on the coils + 3 inches of soft dunlop (sleeponlatex0) + 2 inches 4lbs memory foam.

Ive tried a number of combos and they all feel like a bit firm and I think its the coils. 6 inch coil all tied together its like offset coil is the name I think. Combo sleeper side sleep mostly but would like to sleep on my back too. ~220 lbs 6ā0". I am planning on losing 30-40 lbs.
Ive tried a number of different density memory foam toppers and I like the higher density foam better definitely.
Yes, I know Matan personally and met with him last week. Nothing wrong with the products but the shipping costs are extremely high negating the value. Our 8" Bolsa coil would be a great comparison and much cheaper overall. 8" Quantum Edge Elite Bolsa, DIY Latex Mattress Components
Iām late in responding to you, only saw your post today. Iām also in communication with Matan! I found out about the QuadCoil system in a recent reddit post. The company is totally legit. Iāve seen their quadcoil innerspring described in the Serta iComfortECO Hybrid mattress! The shipping on a twinXL innerspring isnāt huge. Iād also suggest you consider a natural latex layer instead of foam. Latex also comes in different densities. Talalay latex is great for top layers while dunlop may be better for a 1" bottom. Check out redditās r/mattress to find other experiences building mattresses. Best wishes!
I humbly disagree. Comparing the single vertically aligned pocketed coils (that create rolling) used in the body of Bolsa coils with the TexasPocketSpring.com QuadCoil system that employs butterfly locking quadcoils (which eliminate rolling) is a bit of a stretch.
Yeah I bought a 3" dunlop from SOL. I also reently ordered their mattress cover 12". I like their return policy. Ive discovered I like the dunlop maybe better than the tal. The dunlop soft helps alot with the old firm Post 6" coil (not pocket spring). I spoke with Matan and he still suggests the 15 gauge. I will probably go with that if I decide to purchase. So far the setup I currently have is working fairly well. I like the 2" memory foam along with the latex. It is 4lbs memory foam and works much better than the light foam. Sleeps very cool too. If I buy the texas quad Ill try the 3" dunlop and maybe get an inch tal weāll have to see. The SOL mattress cover has stretch to it which I like so as to avoid too much surface tension changes in firmness.
15 guage? Too firm for you? Just curioous, weight height if I may ask? I like the fact that no skrim is required as skrim can change the feeling too much. There is also coil lean. Guys at mattress makers (california?) swear by it and even say that the 14 gauge would work fine for me as a side sleeper. They were willing to sell me just the coils and the mattress cover though quoted me $1k which is a no go. Much depends on the overal make of the mattress. Ill have to pull the trigger on something if im going DIY. Thatās why im trying to info gather as much as I can. I like the quad coil resistant to coil lean/migration and the fact that no skrim is used as that changes the feel of the mattress and even inhibits the function of the pocket coil.
I purchased two twin xls (to form a king size) in 15.5 gauge option. Iām happy with the coils. Matan was easy to deal with it, and I ended receiving the coils pretty quickly. I havenāt tried the bolsa coils so cannot weigh in to compare, though I e definitely read good things. I can only say the quad coils are working good so far for my stomach sleeping wife and my side sleeping self. I do have 5 coils inches of latex over the coils (plus one inch of wool in between coils and latex).
Yeah Ill prob go with the 15 gauge at this point. Im 220 lbs currently though Im planning on losing a good 30 lbs. My current setup is good enough for now. I would like to try some pocket coils in the future though. Been a journey of trying out bedding material. I do like the latex.
Iām Matan from Texas Pocket Springs and The Pocket Coil Store.
The 15.5 is perfect for a side sleeper, depending on the rest of your mattress build and body profile. This unit is a work horse, we produce over 300k units a year. I would not suggest the 14.75 as a side sleeper.
As for the shipping, since we were new to shipping single packages with FedEX or UPS our rates were higher.
The good news is that last week we lowered some of our shipping prices as you will see on the pocketcoilstore . We also will discount for multiple units ordered at one or a second order.
Thanks, Matan- Happy to hear that some shipping costs have been lowered. The āHelpful Tipsā section in your pocketcoilstore WAS helpful. Now Iām considering substituting a 3 inch QuadMini comfort coil for a 3 inch latex layer on the 8 inch Quad base.
That would be great, and Iām happy to answer any questions about the QuadMini. As a coil it has more pushback than latex. It works well as a system with the 8ā. Also curious about the other layers you are planning on using. You can avoid latex completely with a nice natural fiber layer on top like a wool.
CUrrent Build. Update. 15G 8" quad coil + 2 inch turmerry medium + 2 in soft talalay (LMF). All wrapped in the SOL mattress cover. Great cover and has good stretch. I like to keep the layers short to give myself more customization room. The combo so far is good but still some pressure points. Thinking of trying SUpersoft 1" or the HD36 1" from foam by mail. THe memroy foam topper helped greatly on my shoulders but too much sink. Still ~ 220 / 6ft. Wide boney shoulders and hips create PP. Might try the mini coil from TPS too diffferent feel from latex.
