This Innerspring?

Can anyone give thoughts on the above mattress? I don’t have a trusted member retailer anywhere near me (Austin area). This bed feels comfortable in store. Sales person says this mattress is made in Texas and is restonic? Open to any other recommendations for quality innerspring. I hate the feel of memory foam. Thanks in advance.

Hi Bach,

Welcome to the Mattress UnderGround and thank you for the question.

It is very hard to offer thoughts on a mattress that has so much unknown information. While it may be a great mattress for some, the minimal reviews available were just so so.

When purchasing a mattress, Posture and Alignment, Pressure Relief, and Personal Preferences (PPP), the durability of a mattress is crucial. It’s something you can’t fully assess in a showroom or with a brand-new mattress. To assess durability, you’ll need to know the type and quality of materials inside and the specifics of its construction, regardless of the name of the manufacturer on the label.

The description of the mattress they provide is much like an answer you get from a politician who does not have an answer to the question. A lot of words, industry buzz names, but no real substance.

With a 15-½” profile, this luxury firm mattress features 2 layers of High-Density Soft Foam, 1 full layer of Cool Gel Memory Foam, 2 full layers of High-Density Support Foam, and Zoned Individually Pocketed Power-Packed Coils. Our Moonstone II Luxury Firm mattress has a durable support system that provides ease of movement. In combination with other supportive layers and materials, it delivers customized support exactly where your body needs it most. The Cool Gel Memory Foam is a specially formulated memory foam that contains gel beads designed to help absorb heat and draw it away from the sleeper. With 25% thicker coils in the center ⅓ of our mattress, it is optimized for pressure relief, providing ideal support to your back and hips. The edges are reinforced with a foam encasement providing you added durability, more sleeping area, a solid seating surface, and better flexibility when paired with an adjustable base. Finally, it is topped with a luxurious Cooling Cover made to wick moisture and heat away from your body, providing you and your partner with a healthy and neutral sleep surface.

No one on the planet could read this and assess how this mattress might stand up against any other, let alone offer any sense of knowledge to assess in independently.

In general, it’s best to start by finding out Mattress Specifications you need to know .for each mattress you are considering Compare these specs against the mattress durability guidelines here to make sure there are no lower-quality materials or potential weak links that might affect longevity. If a mattress doesn’t provide this information, it might be best to cross it off your list.

This mattress may be a home run or a foul ball, and 25 minutes in the showroom testing it will not cause you to have a reason to bring it home.

They talk about the coils in the center of the mattress are 25% thicker, which generally means “added lumbar support.” The first thought that came to mind reading that was, 25% thicker than what value? What is the density of the foams they refer to? A lot of questions, not a lot of answers.

EXCHANGES/RESELECTIONS

We offer a one-time reselection for regularly stocked items within 5 business days of delivery. An additional delivery fee will apply if you cannot return the item(s). No exchanges or reselections are allowed on Custom Special Orders or As-Is items. In cases of damaged products, Home Zone Furniture reserves the right to send a service technician in place of offering an exchange unless a reselection to a different product is made.

MATTRESS EXCHANGES/RESELECTIONS

If you’re not completely satisfied with your qualifying mattress purchase of $699 and above, you can opt for a one-time exchange (excluding as-is or CPO mattresses). We require that you use the new mattress for at least 30 nights, allowing your body to adjust fully. This is a one-time offer: if you exchange your QUALIFYING mattress, you cannot exchange it again. In the case of an exchange, you can upgrade to a more expensive mattress by paying the price difference. The difference will be a store credit if it’s less expensive. The mattress and foundation(s) must be undamaged (free from stains, tears, punctures, etc.) to qualify for an exchange. Please note that bedding accessories, including pillows, sheets, protectors, and adjustable bases, are not refundable, returnable, or exchangeable. All other mattress sales are final.

RETURNS

Items can be returned for a refund within five business days of delivery/pick-up. Please note that delivery charges are non-refundable, and a 20% restocking fee will be applied. If you cannot return the item(s) to a DFW fulfillment center or satellite store warehouse, you may pay another delivery fee for Home Zone to come and collect your piece(s). Please be aware that mattresses and bedding are not eligible for return.

These policies require closer scrutiny. Similar to their description of the mattress, their return and warranty policy is unfortunately unclear and convoluted.

Since I’m not familiar with this business, it’s difficult to gauge whether they will handle your purchase fairly.

In situations like this, I recommend talking directly to the manager, owner, or someone with decision-making authority. Request a return policy that fits your needs, whether that’s 30, 60, or 90 days. Look into other mattress options they offer as a backup, in case you can’t secure a full unconditional refund if the mattress doesn’t meet your expectations. A small restocking fee, perhaps 5% to 10%, could be reasonable if you don’t choose an alternative from their selection.

Make sure to have all these details clarified and documented before you make a purchase. If they refuse to agree, consider walking away. There are reputable companies (particularly here at TMU) with more favorable policies that deliver nationwide.

I wouldn’t suggest downplaying the value of the mattress just because it costs $999. It’s important to be satisfied with your purchase, regardless of your budget. Making a decision based on the price alone might lead to disappointment. Ensure you’re comfortable with the return policy and terms before committing to avoid any regrets.

Perhaps, since the mattress is made by Restonic, a brand that has been around for almost 90 years. They make the Scott Living brand and couple more of their own brands that seem to align with your mattress selection. Maybe a phone call or two to Restonic for more information might answer some of the lingering questions. Also, watch this video on edge support.

This mattress incorporates a perimeter foam edge support system.

No one can tell you how you are going to feel long term on a mattress, but knowing the specifications of a mattress can be crucial in predicting longevity and durability.

I wish there was a better way to present this, but that is how our tutorials can help.

I wish you the best of luck in your search/decision.

Thanks for that very helpful reply Maverick! There are only 3 mattress retailers in my town and this was the only innerspring at this store that I thought was decent. I had not even gotten to the return/exchange policy yet, pretty rotten it seems. Looks like I will be doing some online purchase. Some innerspring or hybrid without memory foam. I’m finding the DIY build option pretty interesting, didn’t know that was a thing until stumbling upon this site. Spent some time testing out some mattresses today and getting a good idea of what I like. The innerspring hybrids with medium firmness. Probably talalay latex. Anyone want to chime in with their favorite DIY online company?

Thanks, I feel bad that they make it so hard to compare the mattress to anything.
I would speak with @Sleep_EZ and @Arizona_Premium regarding DIY, they are experts at collaborating with sleepers who want to DIY.

I’d be happy to make a recommendation for an all-latex mattress or a latex and coil hybrid, I would just need to ask a few questions. If you don’t mind me asking, about how tall are you, about how much do you weigh, and do you normally sleep on your side, stomach, or back?

I would love a recommendation. I am 5’6 145 lbs, back sleeper. Hubs is 5’11 180 lbs, back and side sleeper. I prefer medium to soft, he prefers medium to firm but we both like good support. Definately pocket coils as opposed to all foam. I despise the feel of memory foam on top of all foam bed, it’s like quick sand on a brick and it hurts to move. I love the thick pillow tops with pocket coils, but those pillow tops turn into bowls and we are done with that. Looking for a king. Thank you!
@Latex_Mattress_Fact1

OK great! Based on the information you provided, I’d recommend 6" coils because they should definitely give you a good supportive core. If you’re getting just one layer of latex to go over the coils, I’d recommend 3" of soft Talalay for your side and 3" of medium Talalay for his side. This would give you more of a medium feel, though, not what I would consider medium-soft. This would also give him a medium-firm feel, maybe even a firm feel.

If you’re getting two 3" layers to go over the coils, my advice is 3" of soft Talalay over 3" of medium Dunlop for your side, which should give you a medium feel or medium-soft, depending on how you define those terms. I’d recommend medium Talalay over medium Dunlop for his side for a medium feel, or medium Talalay over firm Dunlop for a firm feel.

I went with the above recommendations from Latex Mattress Factory. Pocket coils, 3 inches medium dunlop, then 3 inches soft talalay on my side, 3 inches medium talalay on Hubs side. All arrived today and was easy to put together. As I type this I am snuggled in and feeling like I’m at a luxury hotel. Will update this thread and let y’all know how it goes. Thanks to Latex Mattress Facotry for the recommendations and fast shipping :slightly_smiling_face:
