Trying to find a Discontinued Tempur-flex Hybrid

I have been sleeping on a Tempur-Flex Hybrid Supreme mattress for over 7 years and I LOVE IT. I can’t find the exact mattress for sale anymore, do you know of anywhere that sells old model mattresses (still new)? Or is there anything that would feel similar? The newer tempurpedic options all have memory foam that makes you feel like you sink into the mattress which I don’t like. I like this particular mattress because I am a side sleeper and it’s one of the few mattresses that doesn’t make my shoulder fall asleep in the night.

I am so desperate, is there anyone that could create the same “recipe” in a custom mattress? Is that a thing people do?

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Aaron,

Welcome to the Mattress UnderGround. We are happy to have you here.

I understand how much you love your Tempur-Flex Hybrid Supreme mattress, and I get why you’d want to find a similar one. However, a discontinued mattress might not be the best solution, even if you can find one.

  1. Deterioration of Memory Foam: Memory foam can deteriorate over time, even if it’s just sitting in a warehouse. The foam’s properties can break down, leading to reduced support and comfort. This means that an old model, although new in packaging, might not perform the way it did when it was first made.
  2. Changing Materials and Technology: Mattress technologies and materials evolve. The newer Tempur-Pedic models have updated materials and construction techniques that are likely to make them different from older models, even if they look similar on paper. The changes might be aimed at improving durability or comfort, which could inadvertently affect the feel.
  3. Trial and Error: Instead of trying to track down a discontinued model, you might have better luck exploring current options that closely match your preferences. Modern hybrids or other high-quality mattresses could offer similar support and comfort, especially if they have a firmer feel and less sinkage than the memory foam models you dislike.
  4. Custom Solutions: If you’re set on recreating a similar feel, working with a custom mattress maker might be a viable route. They can use your feedback to create a mattress that mimics the qualities you loved about your old one, without the risks associated with aging foam.

While it’s understandable to seek out a specific discontinued model, considering the potential downsides of old memory foam and exploring current options or custom solutions might offer you a better and more reliable results.

Another option may be to make an inquiry with TempFlow. They have been making viscoelastic memory foam mattresses that stand toe to toe with tempur-pedic, perhaps they can take a peek at this review video and replicate the mattress even though tempur-pedic as a large company will not.

I believe Dr. Rick @BackScience might be able to assist you in that regard.

We have Trusted Members who may be able to create a mattress similar to your Tempur-Flex Hybrid Supreme using modern materials. However, it’s important to remember that no two mattresses will feel exactly the same. Our bodies change over time, materials degrade, and the comfort of a mattress may not feel as familiar as it did when it was new. As you search for an equivalent model, keep these factors in mind.

Hope this gives you some better insight.

The Tempur-Flex Hybrid was created to give a more buoyant version of Tempur-Pedic’s original design for those that want a blended feel that gives a hybrid effect that feels somewhere between latex and memory foam.

As Maverick pointed out, the Tempflow mattress has some very similar technology that will give that same net feel you are looking for, but with some durability advantages, thanks to its high-quality, all USA Biogreen memory foam and individually wrapped steel coils used on the hybrid models that allow for an industry leading 40-year limited warranty. While I also created the Back Science Sleep System to give some of that same shoulder pressure relief as the Tempflow and Tempur-Pedic, if you want that same slow reacting memory foam feel that you had with the Tempur-Flex, then the Tempflow EliteConforma Medium Hybrid would be a great match for you. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any other questions whatsoever.
