Hi. My wife recently slept on a Dreamfoam Ultimate Dreams 10" mattress that she loved. I’ve been trying to track one down but they don’t make them anymore. It was made by Brooklyn Bedding but sold by Dreamfoam.
Dreamfoam said the closest mattress is their 12" Meridian:
[li]1" top layer of gel memory foam for optimal cooling and comfort.
2" layer of slow response memory foam for added contouring.
1" transition layer of firmer memory foam for added support.
8" high-density foundation to give the mattress structural firmness as well as a durable core.[/li]
Some of the reviews say the Meridian is a little softer. I’m looking to keep the firmness that the two layer Ultimate Dreams has. Closest thing I have found is an Ashley 10" Chime on Amazon (Amazon.com).
Anyone have any recommendations for a mattress that comes close to the firmness and build of the 10" Ultimate Dreams? Or since I have a 3" 4lb visco elastic memory foam topper, should i look for a 1.8lb poly foam base mattress? I’m guessing our pillow top is not firm enough which is what the main problem is.
Current Mattress:
Original Mattress Factory Orthopedic Pillow Top (had 3" 4lb visco elastic memory foam topper but wife was uncomfortable so took it off, still not comfortable).
The problem is both 1.8 poly and 4 lb. memory foam can come in multiple firmness (ILD) choices. That’s the info you need the most to duplicate what you liked. Perhaps Dreamfoam or Brooklyn could provide that info?
Four year later than you, I am also now in search of a replacement match for this bed. I’m not sure if mine is the Ultimate Dream model, but was
10” Dreamfoam from Amazon. Med-Firm
Manufactured in 2017 by Brooklyn Bedding
3” viscoelastic urethane foam
7” urethane foam
Another post mentioned that both of these foams come in different densities.
I emailed the company and was told they don’t know what materials were used in any mattress older than two years ago.
Any help from anyone would be appreciated!
The Bear original, although a budget mattress, is going to be the closest version of the dreamfoam you might find, that is made here in the USA and is decent quality for the price.
Thank you, I had not looked at Bear. Interestingly, they are another division of Brooklyn Bedding.
But unlike BB & Dreamfoam, Bear doesn’t seem to have a $99 return fee.
In my original Sleep On Latex post, you mentioned the Dreamfoam Essential 12" being an affordable option. Customer service at Dreamfoam said the 10" would be close to our 2017 mattress, but may feel firmer.
If only there were a way to know which will work best!
I’m ready to get off of this mattress journey merry go round!
An update on the 10" Dreamfoam Essential, hoping it may help someone in the future.
Dreamfoam said this was the closest match to their 2017 Amazon memory foam mattress, but could feel a bit firmer. That was an understatement!
The original was soft yet supportive from day 1, and still is.
The Essential 10" is like a rock in comparison.
Both are rated 7/10, med-firm. If this is what they’re currently rating a 7, I would give the old version a 5, as it is a much softer feel.
I’ve just discovered Comfort Option in another post and look forward to learning more about them!
