We have decided after much research and experimentation to go with the Ultimate Hybrid, but struggling to figure out which 3" latex to go with on the top. Some details, I am 5’ 4" 180 lbs, back sleeper, my husband is 5’ 7" mostly side sleeper (sometimes back). We had a 100% Natural Talalay latex - twice. The last one really did not hold up well at all, too much back pain after 3 years. My hips were sinking in too much and I was having a lot of middle back pain. We next tried a traditional innerspring 660 coil with 3/4 1.8 density poly foam with 1" quilted cover at a local mattress manufacturer. It is much too firm. We put a 2" SOL 20 ILD soft topper on top. This helped a lot, my hips are not sinking too far, but shoulder and upper back area feel like on an incline. I think the zoned construction of the ultimate hybrid will be much better. We tried the Combi Quantum Edge locally with 2" dunlop C1 latex and 1" quilted cover, it felt too soft. They also had it with 1" cotton and joma wool quilted cover, that felt better… It sounds like based on my weight, we should probably get medium density latex. Where the topper is 3" not 2" just not sure if that makes the latex feel softer or firmer. I am thinking Talalay which may feel a bit softer than Dunlap in a Medium and would be good for my husband who sleeps on his side, but it seems like recommendations lean towards Dunlap for higher BMI. My husband will sleep on anything. I would love a recommendation on which topper so we can place our order. Thanks.
Based on your experiences I would have to recommend the Medium talalay as the best choice. Knowing how the zoned coils work I think it would be the best possible solution for your sleeping issues and should work fine for the both of you. Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thank you Ken! Placing order now.
Got it, your order is much appreciated!
