Hello - I have a strange request. At one point I found 1" and 3" rolls (approximately 50 yards long) of organic cotton mattress remnants online. I have used them in the rug weaving process.
My previous source is no longer available and I’m hoping I can again find remnants online. I like the rolls of cotton as I do not have to cut them and they are heavy duty for the base of my rugs. And keeping remnants out of the landfills, even better!
I’d appreciate any thoughts on where I could find something similar and/or contact information direct to manufacturers.
Many thanks in advance!
Hi purplemk and welcome to the Mattress Underground
That certainly is a unique question! Aside from looking for a supplier specializing in weaving, you can try one of the [Trusted Members] of the site who manufacture mattresses with organic cotton batting or use organic cotton in the layers of their products, like CozyPure or BioSleep Concept, among others - though I’m not sure the volume of ‘remnants’ they may have on hand; or one of the DIY specialists like SleepEZ or Latex Mattress Factory who sell components for do-it-yourself mattress customers. If they don’t have ‘remnants’ on hand for purchase, they possibly can direct you to a wholesaler or organic cotton, as they possibly have rolls of cotton ‘strips’ left over from their trimming process.
One would imagine there would be some manufacturer of cotton out there who either sell long rolls or who would welcome someone purchasing what may be considered ‘waste’. I wish you luck on your search, feel free to report back if you locate a source in case others are looking for this type of material in the future!
