Down Bedding ?

With the abundance of sleep related info here, I couldn’t help myself… Are there any factory direct, quality down bedding companies that could be recommended? With the purchase of a new, larger king bed, we must purchase new bedding. We use down for the winter months and I’m hoping to get a good lead and do some research over the next few months. I can’t justify the $1000+ for a Himalayan comforter and would rather give my business to smaller, more personal businesses that really care what they put their name on.

Thanks for any help

Hi Getmorsleep,

Bedding is not my area of specialty but I do have a few down and feather product manufacturers in my database. I haven’t done a great deal of research here but they would be well worth a call to get more information about down and feathers …

And this one which makes “hyperdown” products that include milkweed (syriaca)

There are probably many more so I added “down bedding” to the topic title so that others can add any other suggestions that they are aware of in the same thread.

I’m really into down products. The place where I’ve spent the most money, and been the happiest with the products, is http://www.downlitebedding.com. If I ever buy another featherbed, it’ll be from http://dewoolfsondown.com, but they’re much more expensive than Downlite.

Downlite also sells thru Amazon, altho I find their website has a better variety of products. Their sale section often has more products listed than the regular listings - I’m longing for one of their good down comforters, but can’t justify it since I already have two Pacific Coast down comforters - the one at Downlite is $500 for an 800 fill weight goose down comforter.

Hi Clawdia,

Thanks for adding a couple more sources to the list … I appreciate it

Glad if it helps someone, and happy to contribute what little I know!

One thing I have learned is that down products are a bit like mattresses in that you need to know the make-up of the item in question - with down, it’s fill weight, type of down (duck isn’t as good as goose, as far as I’m concerned), and I prefer to know country or at least continent of origin as well as thread count of cover.

Pacific Coast, for example, has some very good products - but getting any information from them about what they’re selling, and where it came from, is far from easy.

I always enjoy down bedding and i recently got best down comforter from here and enjoying its comforters.
