I’m moving to Vancouver Canada in a few weeks do study university, it’s my first time having my own place and also my first time needing s new mattress.
I’ve had the mattress I use right now for 16 years, it is a selther ortoflex G5 and it has been amazing, I’ve never had any trouble with this mattress; now it’s time to change it but I don’t seem to find something that compares. I was looking to the Logan & Cove Choice mattress but reviews are harsh on it and I don’t fell convinced, same happened with the Ikea mattresses. I am 5’8/172 and around 60kg/132lbs, I am a side sleeper and I’m looking for a hybrid mattress.
Because I live outside of Canada as for now I cannot try most of the mattresses that y’all may recommend, but I’m up to throw myself with and unseen mattress if it looks like what I’m looking for: a medium firm mattress, hybrid, full size and below $1000.
If any extra information is needed please respond to this so we can talk.
Welcome to our Mattress Forum and congrats on the big move to Vancouver! It’s a huge transition, and finding the right mattress for your new home is definitely an important part of getting settled.
It sounds like you’ve had a great experience with your Selther Ortoflex G5, and I can understand how hard it is to find something that matches up after so many years. You’re on the right track with seeking out a medium-firm hybrid that’s friendly to side sleeping and fits your budget.
Are you seeking a twin? Queen?
A quick note about online reviews - we usually caution people not to rely too heavily on them. Mattress comfort is super subjective and depends on a lot of factors: your weight, body type, sleeping position, and personal preferences. What works for one person might feel totally different to someone else, even on the exact same model.
Instead, we recommend using our Mattress Durability Guidelines to help evaluate a mattress’ materials and how long it will likely last. We also suggest checking out brands we’ve vetted on our Trusted Members as these companies are transparent about their materials and construction and offer great customer service, and a number include shipping options across Canada.
Also, feel free to reply here if you’d like help comparing specific models or materials we’re happy to walk you through it!
Congratulations on your move! Since you’re looking for a hybrid mattress in Canada, you might want to consider options from brands like Novosbed or Endy, which often have good reviews and fit your budget. Another option could be the Douglas Mattress, which is a popular choice in Canada. They usually offer trial periods, so you can test them out once you’re settled in Vancouver. Additionally, you can check local stores in Vancouver, as they may have seasonal sales or offer student discounts. Good luck with your move and studies!
