Follow up to this post. After talking to Ken on the phone I decided to invest a bit more than planned on a mattress that will hopefully last decades, and purchased a queen naturalux with firm mattress and 3" #25-29 topper. My initial impression of the mattress was that it was quite firm, even with the medium firmness topper. I hoped that the firmer option would eliminate my lower back pain with my being high BMI. After a few nights to get used to it I’m still experiencing lower back pain.
I’m trying to determine what my best next step looks like. I don’t want to take the approach of just trying stuff until something works, because I wouldn’t want to take advantage of Arizona Mattress’s return policy. A comfort exchange for a softer topper? Swapping the mattress itself for a medium firmness? I know it’s not as simple as just saying softer or firmer, and the two mattresses I have now on opposite sides of the spectrum result in the same problem.
I’ve also noted that this bed sleeps much warmer than the Purple. My understanding is that latex is supposed to be one of the more temperature neutral options. I’m sure it will only get hotter if I switch to something I’ll sink into more. Is there anything I can do to help with this? The temp issue is a lower priority than comfort, as I live in the age of technology and can compensate by just paying a little extra on the power bill.
