Familiar topic. I’m looking for a new ~10" queen mattress for my wife, 5’5" tall, 110 lbs, side sleeper, in her 70s so has some lower back issues. I would like an all latex foam mattress and have it narrowed down to these two:
Luxerion Dunlop Latex Mattress
Turmerry Organic Latex Mattress
With discounts they are both about the same price.
The Turmerry though is a 7 zoned mattress. Savy Rest has a good article on zoned mattresses.
I asked Turmerry for the ILDs of their mattresses and got this response. The numbers compared to traditional ILDs are lower. How do you take an ILD reading on 7 zoned latex layer?
Soft:
IFD/ILD @40% (lbf): 11.0-15.4
IFD/ILD @25% (lbf): 6-10
Medium:
IFD/ILD @40% (lbf): 20.0-26.4
IFD/ILD @25% (lbf): 14-18
Firm:
IFD/ILD @40% (lbf): 31.0-39.6
IFD/ILD @25% (lbf): 22-26
Extra Firm:
IFD/ILD @40% (lbf): 59.6-66.0
IFD/ILD @25% (lbf): 38-42
The ILDs on the Luxerion Dunlop latex mattress are:
Soft - 19-20
Medium - 28-30
Firm - 38-40
My questions are if I choose the Luxerion do I go with a Soft, Medium, Firm or a Medium, Medium, Firm for my wife?
Or if I choose the Turmerry mattress, with their strange ILD numbers, go with their Medium (Medium, Medium, Firm)?
