I purchased a CPR Nano2 and it’s clearly just okay. I left a Tempurpedic supreme cloud luxe after about 6 years of loving it… Then waking up with low back pain and so hot. I just recently slept on a tempur rhapsody so much more comfy than my nano2 but so hot. No back pain. The nano2 feels like there is a gap between my back and the mattress I’m 5’5" 145. I wish I would’ve done tempur flex supreme breeze. Flipping flopping all night on the nano2 too hard…but it sleeps cooler ?

Hi CPROK,

Thanks for taking the time to share your comments and feedback … I appreciate it.

I’m sorry to hear that your mattress isn’t working out quite as well as you hoped it would.

I’m not sure how long you’ve had your mattress but I would keep in mind that there will be a break in and adjustment period for any new mattress or sleeping system as the mattress loses any of it’s “false firmness” and the cover stretches and loosens a little and the materials settle and your body gets used to a sleeping surface that is different from what it is used to (see post #3 here). This could typically be a few weeks but it can be shorter or longer depending on the specifics of the person and the mattress (higher density materials can take longer) and it can be surprising to some people how much their sleeping experience can change over the course of the first few weeks.

I’m also not sure if you had the chance to test the Nano2 in person or if you purchased it online but one of the advantages of trying mattresses locally is that you can try many different types and styles and firmness levels and compare them to each other in “real time” based on your actual experience rather than just “theory” instead of trying one mattress and not knowing how it compares to the other mattresses that you could have tried or purchased instead.

Many online mattresses have a good trial period and return or exchange policy so you can try them in your bedroom instead of a showroom with little risk (outside of the time you spend sleeping on it and/or returning it if that becomes necessary or any costs involved in the return process) so if it’s not a “good enough” match for you in terms of comfort, firmness, and PPP (Posture and alignment, Pressure relief, and your own Personal preferences) you can just return it and try another mattress although of course you will only know whether it’s “good enough” and you won’t know whether it would have been better or worse or how it compares to other mattresses that you could have purchased that you haven’t tried in person.

Because the only way to know for certain whether any mattress will be a good “match” for you in terms of comfort, firmness, and PPP will be based on your own careful testing or your own personal experience,.I would always make sure that when you are buying a mattress online that you haven’t tested in person that you are comfortable with the options you have to exchange or return a mattress (or in some cases individual layers) and any costs involved just in case your choice doesn’t turn out as well as you hoped for. Charles P Rogers allows you to exchange their mattresses for a different model for 90 days but I’m not sure of the costs involved with their exchange policy because they don’t mention the specifics on their site.

The choice between memory foam and latex would be a preference choice rather than a “better/worse” choice and some people prefer the feel and slower response of memory foam and some people prefer the feel and more resilient response of latex. Latex in general is also more breathable and temperature neutral than memory foam. There is more about the pros and cons of latex vs memory foam in post #2 here but once again the best way to know which types of materials you tend to prefer would be based on careful testing or your own personal experience.

There is more about the 3 most important parts of the “value” of a mattress purchase in post #13 here which can help you make more meaningful quality/value comparisons between mattresses in terms of suitability (how well you will sleep), durability (how long you will sleep well), and the overall value of a mattress compared to your other finalists based on suitability, durability, and all the other parts of your personal value equation that are most important to you (including the price of course and the options you have available after a purchase if your choice doesn’t turn out as well as you hoped for).

The Nano2 also uses higher quality and more durable materials than the Tempur Flex Supreme Breeze but the quality and durability of the materials in a mattress has little to do with how well you will sleep on it … only how long it will maintain it’s comfort and support.

If your mattress is too firm then a good quality topper can also be an effective way to add some additional softness, “comfort” and pressure relief to your sleeping system but the only way to know for certain whether a specific mattress/topper combination is a good “match” for you in terms of comfort, firmness, and PPP is based on your own careful testing or personal experience on the combination. If you can’t test the combination in person then there will always be always some risk and uncertainty involved in adding a topper because the specifics of the mattress itself along with your own body type, sleeping position, and preferences can affect which specific topper would be a suitable choice on any specific mattress.

If you decide to go in this direction rather than exchanging your mattress then there is more information about choosing a topper and a link to the better online sources I’m aware of in post #2 here and the topper guidelines it links to which along with a conversation with a reliable and knowledgeable supplier (that can provide you with good information about how their toppers compare to each other or to other toppers they are familiar with that are available on the market) can help you use your sleeping experience as a reference point and guideline to help you choose the type, thickness, and firmness for a topper that has the least possible risk and the best chance for success. Just like with a mattress purchase … a good exchange/return policy can also reduce the risk of an online topper purchase so I would make sure you are comfortable with the options you have available after a purchase just in case the topper you choose doesn’t turn out as well as you hoped for either.

I’ll trade you my Cp Rogers St. Regis Latex Pulse which I bought a few weeks ago…(Only joking), but it was the biggest purchasing mistake I have made in a while. It was not giving my hip area enough support. I was waking up with back pain and sciatica. I have now moved it into my guest room (which was always my fall back option if I didn’t like it). Regretting that I bought it.
