Reccomendations for Winnipeg, Manitoba?

Phoenix,

Like many others, we were about to buy an iComfort and then I found your very informative site and I have just finished reading all 26 pages of the ‘iComfort Buzz’ thread. I am really amazed at your expertise and appreciative of your efforts. I have asked my wife to look at the first page or two and I am certain it will change her purchase plans.

I will check out Restmore Mattress Co, as per your membership list.

Do you have any other local suggestions? Specifically, are you aware of Best Sleep Center (https://www.bestsleepcentre.com/) which is a local business that advertises heavily on sourcing, non-Big Name Brand, but not manufacturing mattresses. I will probably look at their latex mattress and/or TempaGel foam.

I am 5’11", 175lb and sleep on side and back. Wife is 5’2", 130lb and sleeps in all positions.

Any help or advice will be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi T3b_vat,

You are fortunate to be in Winnipeg and you have some very good choices in the area. Since there isn’t a “Wininipeg” list on the forum … I’ll list the better choices I’m aware of in the area in this post (including the couple you mentioned) and add a few comments.

http://www.restmorewinnipeg.com/ Factory direct manufacturer in Winnipeg, MB. They are mostly wholesale but they also have a factory direct location that sells direct to consumers. They are a member of this site which means that I think very highly of their quality, value, and service. They make a full range of mattresses including innersprings, memory foam, and latex and they use high quality materials at every price point. Harry is one of the partners there and they are knowledgeable and helpful. Recommended

https://www.bestsleepcentre.com/ Retailer in Winnipeg, Steinbach, Portage La Prairie, Winkler, Brandon, MB. I have talked with Gary the owner’s son here and he is “good people”. They carry Restonic mattresses and work very closely with the Restonic licensee factory in ND. Restonic makes a wide range of mattresses and all of these are available but they are more focused on the Restonic Gel memory foam. They can make custom adjustments to a degree and they are open about the materials in their mattresses and have good value.

sleepwellbedding.ca/ Factory direct manufacturer in Winnipeg, MB. They make a range of different types of innerspring mattresses but also make all foam as well mostly in lower budget ranges.

https://www.manta.com/ic/mt67s0y/ca/heart-bedding-ltd Winnipeg. I had a good conversation with Randy here and they are certainly “mattress people” and he said they could build whatever someone wanted. They would be well worth including in your research here.

aviva.ca (outdated link) I talked with Nathan here and he is knowledgeable about natural and organic mattresses. They they currently carry Renelle’s Nature’s Embrace mattresses (that use organic latex and fabrics) and latex hybrids as well.

Mattress Source | Winnipeg MB. Dreamstar, Urban Lifestyles, Renelle, and Springwall are the manufacturers I would focus on here.

http://www.foamsolutions.ca/ Foam supplier in Winnipeg, MB. They make polyfoam or memory foam mattresses that use some good quality foams with good value.

https://www.sleepcountry.ca/ Winnipeg, MB Natura latex.

Hope this helps … and feel free to post any questions you have along the way

Phoenix

Your suggestions are much appreciated. We’ll be doing some comparissons over the next week or two. Thanks again.

Phoenix,

Thanks for your help. Purchased a King and a double Latex and 3 electronic adj bed frames from Restmore. Could not be happier with their service and price.
Only used for one night, so far, but so far so good.

Thanks again.

Hi T3b_vat,

Congratulations on your new mattress

I think you made a great choice and as you probably know I think very highly of Harry and the quality and value of the mattresses he makes.

I hope you have a chance to give us an update when you’ve had the chance to sleep on it for a while.

Phoenix thank you for the reply and all the suggestions. Very much appreciated. This should keep me occupied for a while.

Hi bissonnette,

I’m looking forward to finding out what you end up deciding

Phoenix

Hi there,
I just want to mention that my husband & I went mattress shopping in Southern MB. a few weeks ago and fortunately dodged a huge bullet and didn’t make a purchase at the time. Being my nature to “do my homework”, I took the info that we had gathered from our shopping experience and went to the internet. I spent hours checking web-sites and you tube tutorials on how to understand the construction of a mattress. I stumbled upon this site and couldn’t believe my good find! I have nothing but praise for the thorough information given here and what really helped to make my decision to trust this site, is the fact that Phoenix has personally spoken to the owners/managers whose companies he recommends.
Long story short, I made a list of manufacturers in Winnipeg (as suggested on this site) and today we made the 1 hour drive into the city to spend the day trying to figure out what mattress & company to buy from. Well, our first stop was at RESTMORE MATTRESS CO, which was also our last. We walked in, met one of the 2 owners, Luis. He ushered us around the corner to their small showroom where we received a very thorough tutorial on the different foam qualities and densities. One of the things that frustrate me about big show rooms is the amount of mattresses in one room (too hard to make a decision). With this site’s very helpful article on what guidelines to follow in choosing a mattress, we were very quickly able to filter out the “weak links”. However, there are NO weak links at RESTMORE, they don’t sell weak links. There is a window in the showroom to the production area, you can watch their staff of 5 making mattresses. Luis took us to the production area to show us exactly what they put into mattresses, the different coil options, fabrics used, etc. We purchased a pocket coil mattress w/2’ of 1.8 lb density foam top at a super reasonable price and YES, we received our membership discount too!! AND, we have 1 month to try our mattress & if we don’t like it, we can bring it back and they will amend it to our liking until we are satisfied. No worry here that they take your mattress back & do who-knows-what with it. They fix it for you.
Luis told us that their advertising comes from satisfied customers. So, I’m here to tell you that we are VERY satisfied & can’t wait to get our mattress home and wake up without a sore back!!

Hi Maried,

Welcome … and I’m glad you found us!

Thanks for taking the time to share your detailed comments and feedback about your experiences with Restmore … and most importantly of all … congratulations on your new mattress :).

As you know I think you made a great quality/value choice and I’m looking forward to your comments and feedback when you’ve received it and have had the chance to sleep on it for a bit.

Phoenix

Heading there today…we’ll see how it goes.
