Online alternative to Savvy Rest Serenity?

I hope this hasn’t been addressed elsewhere and I’ve overlooked it.

I’ve managed to try out a Savvy Rest Serenity (Bottom: Firm Dunlop, Middle: Medium Talalay; Top: Soft Talalay) and really liked it. However, the cost is a bit prohibitive ($3200) and the only nearby retailer’s exchange/return policy is not ideal.

Is there an online retailer that offers a comparable product, offers a “white glove” delivery service, and is able to ship within 2 or so weeks? I’m fairly petite and cannot imagine how I will manage to lug the latex up my stairs and get it set up.

Many thanks for any recommendations!

I don’t know if the shipping criteria is all met but sleepez is very comparable and can be setup in the same configuration.

Hi lopf,

The tutorial post includes this link to a list of the members here that sell mattresses online and several of them sell component latex mattresses that are very similar to Savvy Rest with three 3" latex layers that give you a choice for the type (Talalay or Dunlop) and firmness of each layer. They also have layer exchange policies and/or return policies that are similar or better than Savvy Rest and they also have lower prices.

I took a quick look and one of them has white glove delivery as an option however some of them may be able to provide this on request but you would need to call and ask them. These types of mattresses are shipped in several boxes that contain the individual layers and the cover and for the most part they are relatively easy to put together with two people.

The ones that make a similar mattress with similar options are …

https://www.foamsweetfoam.com/ (now http://www.urbangreenmattress.com/)
http://www.spindlemattress.com/ (100% natural continuous pour Dunlop only)
https://www.cozypure.com/ (has white glove delivery available and the cover is two sided)

There are several others that also offer component latex mattresses as well that have different designs or options that may also work well for you so you could check with these as well. The first two list white glove delivery as an option on their site. They are …

http://www.astrabeds.com/ is not a member here but they offer component latex mattresses with optional white glove delivery including a 3x3 layer organic Dunlop mattress.
http://www.plushbeds.com/ is also not a member here but they also offer component latex mattresses (but not with 3 x 3" layers) with optional white glove delivery

Thank you both for the information. While none of the “similar mattress option” places offer a white glove service, I will likely order from Flexus and then attempt to get it set up myself. Fingers crossed!

Hi lopf,

I’m looking forward to finding out what you end up deciding once you pull the trigger. You certainly have some great options to choose from

I am in the middle of a home remodel and decided that if I’m going to remodel my home it’s time for a new mattress. Believe me, it’s time. Actually I’ve never purchased a new mattress…getting hand-me-downs or Craigslist finds…I’m ready for something new and good for me.

I have been researching and googling and trying to sort through the confusing info about greenwashing and latex, etc. I’ve been trying to justify the price…I mean if the mattress lasts 10 years and costs $3,650…that’s only a dollar a day. BUT if I can do some homework and get it for an even better price I would be thrilled :cheer:

I have narrowed it down to two mattresses.

Savvy Rest - Serenity
OMI (Organicpedic) -Duo

Medium-Firm-Firm

They are the same price…however right now Savvy Rest is having a sale where they will include a wool topper and two pillows (any size! I’m thinking body pillow!)

Sale ends today…how’s that for having to make a decision?!

However if there are other places that are comparable in business practices, latex quality and have a cheaper price I would be happy to look into them.

Thank you!

Hi CaliforniaSleep,

Both of the mattresses you are looking at use high quality materials but the earlier posts in this topic also include some of the other component latex mattress options that are available to you that have a similar design and use the same or very similar type and blend of latex that are in lower price ranges that would also be well worth considering IMO.

Hi -

I’m new here. I am looking at foam sweet foam and now I see here that Sleep Ez sells the same type of layered latex mattresses. I am wondering if the latex itself from Sleep Ez is of the same quality. Do they use the same supplier, such as Latex International? Sleep Ez is less expensive and I notice the Fall coupon is now gone from FSF. I am thinking the 90 day comfort guarantee will help too, but they’re warranty is 20yrs not 30 like Foam. FSF doesn’t seem to let you exchange a layer if you find out that you like a different top layer. I tried out a Savvy rest in a store and the one that felt nicest was soft Talaly top medium Dunlop next then Firm Dunlop bottom. I am however looking at getting the 4 layer bed so my mattress isn’t to low for my night stand. Don’t really know how to layer it. Should I do an extra firm on the 4th layer down, or go 2 medium layers before a firm layer. I like to start off sleeping on my front sometimes then I will be on my side much of the time. The guy in the Savvy Rest store said that my sleep habit will change with a really good mattress from using my not so good old inner spring one, and that I might actually start sleeping on my back too. Perhaps I should go soft, medium, firm, firm? I like is soft enough without sinking to much into the bed if I am reclined in TV watching, book reading position. Don’t like to have my back arched if on my front, but also want it soft enough for my shoulders when on my side.

If I have to buy a foundation, such as the wood one from Sleep Ez orKD, or CPS, could they go on my old metal bed frame? Will the wood hold the wight of the 4 layer latex and me 160 lbs and a man who is kinda big? Right now the top of my bed is two feet from the floor. I don’t mind it a little lower, like 2 inches, but I don’t want it much lower because of my night stand, and I need to clean floor under the bed too. I’m wondering if it will be impossible to shove bed over a bit to get to cleaning that floor area…

Any helpful reply appreciated.

Hi keyatt,

Savvy Rest uses Radium for their Talalay supplier not Latex international and this is also SleepEZ’s “default” Talalay latex supplier although they have blended and 100% natural Talalay available while Savvy Rest only has the 100% natural Talalay. There is more about the different types and blends of latex in post #6 here that can help you make more “apples to apples” comparisons between different types of latex that different manufacturers use in their mattress but 100% natural Dunlop latex made by different manufacturers would all be closely comparable in terms of quality and durability and Talalay made by Radium and Latex International would also be closely comparable as well if they are the same blend (100% natural vs blended).

The warranty of a mattress isn’t particularly important because it only covers defects and defects in materials will tend to show up early in the life of a mattress (the first year or two). Warranties aren’t an indication of how long a mattress will last for you and don’t cover the gradual loss of comfort and support over time which is the reason that most people will end up replacing their mattress. There is more about warranties in post #174 here but the quality and durability of the materials in a mattress are much more important than the length of a warranty.

When you can’t test a mattress in person before you buy it then the most effective way to choose which design or layering options would be best for you would be based on a more detailed conversation with an online retailer or manufacturer that can “talk you through” the options they have available that would have the best chance of success for your body type and sleeping positions based on the"averages" of their customers that are similar to you (see mattress firmness/comfort levels in post #2 here) or that was a close approximation to another mattress you have tested locally that has a similar design and materials. The tutorial post also includes a link to a list of the members here that sell their mattresses online (in the optional online step) and several of them make component latex mattresses that have a very similar design to Savvy Rest and also use various combinations of 3" latex layers with a choice between different types and blends of latex in different firmness levels. There are also others that have different component designs that also have replaceable layers that may also be worth including in your research. Most of them would be familiar with the Savvy Rest mattresses and how their layers and firmness ratings compared to Savvy Rest as well so they would be the best source of guidance about which of the options they have available would be closest to a Savvy Rest that you tried and preferred.

There is more about the types of foundations or support systems that are generally suitable for different types of mattresses in the foundation post here but for an all latex mattress I would make sure that the gaps between the slats were 3" or less which would rule out many KD foundations. The SleepEZ foundation would certainly be a suitable choice. I don’t know the specifics of the metal bedframe you have but there is more about choosing a suitable metal bedframe in post #10 here.
